Pagsanjan is a prime attraction in Laguna province, which is only two hours drive southeast of Manila. The drive to Pagsanjan passes through a rich agricultural region of rice and coconut plantations; the University of the Philippines’ College of Agriculture; the International Rice Research Institute; Calamba town, the birthplace of the national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal; and the fertile volcanic plains at the foot of two famous and mystical mountains, Mounts Makiling and Banahaw.

Located in nearby Laguna province and a one and a half hour’s drive from Manila, this subterranean valley was formed thousands of years ago during a volcanic eruption. It is enveloped by rain forests of primeval beauty with age-old trees, giant ferns, wild orchids and mineral springs with varying degrees of temperature.

The premier city of the Philippines, Manila, is a vital stopping point in Southeast Asia. The city was also a former Malay settlement, founded by the Spanish Conquistador, Miguel Lopez de Legaspi in June 1571. It was then known as the “Distinguished and Ever Loyal City of Manila”.
