Tagaytay is a picturesque city perched on a ridge 750 meters above sea level and overlooking Taal Lake and the Taal Volcano Island. Taal Volcano is the lowest volcano in the world and one of the most active. The lake and the volcano are sometimes described as “an island within a lake within an island within a lake”.Two (2) hours’ drive from Manila, Tagaytay is called the “garden city” for its abundance of fruits, vegetables and cut flowers coming from the many farms around the area. There are two (2) interesting stops on the way to Tagaytay. First is the Las Pinas Church where a 178-year old organ with pipes made of bamboo still plays music for everyone’s enjoyment. Second, is the Jeepney factory. Jeepneys are the local transport that serve as public shuttle service and the term was derived from the old American Worl War II jeeps. Now locals manufacture jeepney out of the old pieces of automobile surplus.
