Tagaytay is a picturesque city perched on a ridge 750 meters above sea level and overlooking Taal Lake and the Taal Volcano Island. A location only two hours drive from Manila, Tagaytay is called the “garden city” for its abundance of fruits, vegetables and cut flowers coming from the many farms around the area. There are two interesting stops on the way to Tagaytay. First, is the Las Pinas Church where a 178-year old organ with pipes made of bamboo still plays music for everyone’s enjoyment. Second, is the Jeepney factory. Jeepneys are the local transport that serve as public shuttle service which term was derived from the old American World War II jeeps. Now locals manufacture jeepneys out of the old pieces of automobile surplus. In Tagaytay, you will be welcomed in a local restaurant for refreshment while viewing the majestic volcano lake.
