Cebu City, is one of the oldest cities in the Philippines. The city is the home to many historical and cultural landmarks.
In this tour, you will be visiting the Basilica, the country’s oldest church and home of the 480-year old image of the Infant Jesus, Cebu’s patron saint; Fort San Pedro, built by the Spaniards in 1570, which is a well-preserved reminder of Cebu’s role in history; the Shrine of the Cross Magellan, which is believed to be the cross that Ferdinand Magellan planted on the shore of Mactan when he first came to the island in March 1521. Then take a hike to the Taoist Temple, a temple located high on a hill overlooking the city where visitors can make wishes and pray for them to come true. Afterwards head to the Carbon Market, the city’s open market where local produce are brought for sale; and the Casa Gorordo, a 17th century home that was reconstructed down to the last detail and furnished with genuine antique furniture from the same period. Lastly, take a short tour of Ayala Center for a glimpse of local modern city life.
