Palawan is an archipelago of 1,780 islands located in the western part of the Philippines, lying between the South China Sea and Sulu Sea. It is the least populated island in the Philippines and is known as “The Last Ecological Frontier of the Philippines” because of the island’s scenic landscapes and high-biodiversity.
The Calamian Archipelago is in the north of Palawan, where the largest group of islands in the region, Busuanga, and the town of Coron is located. Busuanga, is where the airport is based. Wedge-shaped limestone cliffs with fresh water lakes and salt water hot springs can be found in the southern part of Coron. This group of islands is also a famous diving site because of the World War II shipwrecks that can be seen, ranging from 25 to 40 meters in depth.
